Yoga
Derived from the Sanskrit word “yuji,” meaning yoke or union, yoga is an ancient practice that brings together mind and body. It involves breathing exercises, poses and meditation carefully designed to promote relaxation and reduce stress.
What exactly is Yoga?
“Yoga is a Sanskrit word, meaning the union of the breath, mind and body.”
Steeped in Indian traditions, rich in philosophy, wellbeing and vitality. As you practice Yoga, you develop the spirit, strengthen the breath, you come to know the importance of the mind’s health, clarity and discernment in thought, as well as maintaining a strong body. Yoga is a Sanskrit word, meaning the union of the breath, mind and body. These three elements are the foundation of a yoga practice.
One of the lovely things about Yoga is the versatility and adaptability; this allows you as an individual to start from wherever you are and to gradually build on that. Postures, movement and strength can be tweaked and adjusted to suit any contraindications, injury or other issues that may be present.
What should I expect?
“Laughter & fun are top of the agenda.”
Should you choose to join me in the Studio or Online, the practice will always be about building on your ability to use these tools for everyday living. Strengthening your awareness of how breath, mind and body are integral and how maintaining them allows you to have a fulfilled and easier experience of life.
It’s important to me that in my class, you will feel at ease, encouraged and become more confident within your body and therefore your ability. Laughter and fun are top of the agenda and it is a great healing tool.
At the end of each class, there is relaxation and meditation. It’s important on so many levels that we, at the very least, know how to relax and experience how meditation enhances the mind and encourages nourishing sleep patterns through focus, visualisation, imagination and building on your ability to stay in the NOW for longer.
Above all my classes are about allowing ourselves to enjoy and experience the inner stillness we all need in order to function and ultimately experience a more joyful and fulfilled journey through life.
